Last night me and my mom, sister and sister’s husband went out for dinner. We had BBQ in the fancy restaurant; actually the price is reasonable and it only costs roughly 450 NT per person and all of us are completely full. We ordered 2 pork meals which are different parts of pork come with salad, 2 kind of soups, stone mix rice (Korean style), dice beef, dink and dissert. They have many options for each dish and drinks are can be refilled. Because we have 4 people, we ordered extra beef portion. The meat quality is awesome and every dish all tastes so good. The stuffs there are funny and friendly. They teach us how to cook good meat.
We were eating and chatting, my mom mentioned that me and chuck are thinking to open the coffee house in the USA, actually we are really serious about this plan which has been thought around 1 year ago. Making and drinking coffee are chuck’s interests; he knows how to make good coffee. He bought nice coffee machine from USA, he practices a lot to make good quality coffee. Of cause if you want to open the coffee shop, you are not only have to make good coffee but also you have to understand the market. We have been researching the market of coffee business and also we study about how to start the coffee business. Anyways, when my sister heard that we are going to start coffee business in USA, she said: “ I don’t think it’s wise to have coffee business in USA. You should make “Pearl Milk tea” instead of coffee”. From her words, I can guess she tried to express the demand of coffee market is not anymore and Pearl mike tea is the unique goods for USA market. I totally disagree that! Coffee business in USA is just starting, yeah~ they have many coffee shops but the consumers drink shit coffee. For me, it tastes like water with a little bit coffee flavor! Drinking coffee is the big habit for western people, not expectation for American. According to researches, as long as you have good location, making good coffee you can gain lots profit. In my opinion, coffee is“drink” and people drink it everyday. The coffee market will not be over- demanded. People can always switch from this coffee shop to others when they try the better coffee. On the other hand, Pearl milk tea cannot be popular in USA because the foreigner doesn’t like “Pearl”. They hate the way it looks- black little round something… When I was living in the UK, I made some Pearl milk tea, I thought my western friends will love it, in fact, 9 out of 10 people don’t like it and even most of them don’t want to try it!! Some Taiwanese people who live in UK or USA have opened tea house and sell Pearl milk tea, most all the customers are Asian instead of foreigners. Hey, they don’t like it… that’s the truth!
My sister is a teacher, I admit she can teach well but it doesn’t mean she is able to do the business well. She thinks she’s good at everything and also she is really dominated person. She likes to give people order maybe because of her job. Students have to follow and listen what the teachers say even if they don’t agree or feel willing to do it. My sister is a nice person but I have to say that sometimes I don’t enjoy talking with her. She has one really bad habit is like when I tell her my opinion, she always said…” if I were you, I were do blah blah blah, the way you do it’s wrong.” I think it’s kinda disrespect people, everyone deals with the things differently, you cannot deny people to show you are much better than them. It’s not right and also it makes me feel that she’s like a frog in a well – you won’t get improve because you never accept other people’s opinion, isn’t it?!!
